POSTED

And said the sons of the prophets to ‘Eliysha’
“Look, please! The place which we ourselves [are] living there before your face
[is too] confined for us.
Let us go/walk, please, unto the Yarden, and let us take from there each one beam
And let us make for ourselves there a place to dwell there.”
And he said,
“Go/walk.”
And said the one,
“Be content, please, and go/walk with your servants.”
And he said,
“I myself will go/walk.”

And he went/walked with them
And they came to the Yarden
And they divided-in-two the trees.
And it was the one felling the beam
And the iron fell to the water.
And he cried and he said,
“Alas, my master! Now it was asked.”
And said the man of the Elohim,
“Where did it fall?”
And they caused-him-to-see the place.
And he cut off wood
And he threw there
And he made the iron float.
And he said,
“Cause-to-lift [it] for yourself.”
And he sent his hand and he took it.

Now king of ‘Aram was fighting in Yisrael
And he took counsel to his servants, saying,
“To a certain place my camp.”
And sent the man of the ‘Elohim to king of Yisrael, saying,
“Be guarded from crossing over this place
For there ‘Aram [is] descending.”
And sent king of Yisrael to the place which said to him the man of the ‘Elohim.
And he gave warning and he was guarded there,
Not once and not twice.

And the heart of king of ‘Aram grew stormy over this word/thing,
And he called to his servants and said to them,
“Will you not report to me who from who of us [is] for king of Yisrael?”
And said one from his servants,
“No, my master, the king.
For ‘Eliysha’ the prophet who [is] in Yisrael
He reports to king of Yisrael the words which you word/speak in your bed chamber.”
And he said,
“Go/walk, and see where he himself [is].
And I will send and I will take him.”
And it was reported to him, saying,
“Look! In Dotan!”
And he sent there horses and chariots and strong-troops of glory.
And they entered to night
And they surrounded around the city.

And the attendant of man of the ‘Elohim was early to rise
And he went out.
Now look! Strong-troops all around the city, and horses and chariots!
And said his boy to him,
“Alas my master. How shall we do?”
And he said,
“Do not fear. For many more which [is] with us than which with them.”
And interceded ‘Eliysha’ and said,
“Yahweh! Open, please, his eyes and he will see.”
And Yahweh opened the eyes of the boy,
And he saw,
And look! The mountain was filled [with] horses and chariots of fire all around ‘Eliysha’.
And they went down to him
And interceded ‘Eliysha’ to Yahweh and he said,
“Strike, please, this Gentile with sudden-blindness.”
And he struck them with sudden-blindness according to the word of ‘Eliysha’.
And ‘Eliysha’ said to them,
“Not this the way, and not this the city.
Come after me and I will cause-you-to-walk/go to the man which you are seeking.”
And he caused-them-to-walk/go to Shomron.

And it was according to their entering Shomron and ‘Eliysha’ said,
“Yahweh! Open the eyes of these and they will see.”
And opened Yahweh their eyes and they saw.
Now look! In the midst of Shomron!
And said king of Yisrael to ‘Eliysha’ according to his seeing them
“Shall I strike? Shall I strike, my father?”
And he said,
“You shall not strike.
Those which you took captive by your sword and by your bow, would you yourself strike?
Set bread and water before their faces
And they will eat and drink and go/walk to their master.”
And he feasted for them a great feast
And they ate and they drank.
And he sent them and the walked/went to their master.
And they did not add again, the marauding-bands of ‘Aram, to enter in the land of Yisrael.

And it was after this
And Ben-hadad king of ‘Aram assembled all his camp
And ascended and besieged over Shomron.
And it was a famine, a great one, in Shomron
Now look! besieging over it until being the head of a male-donkey in/at eighty of silver
And a quarter-qav of dove-dung at five of silver.

And it was king of Yisrael crossing over on the wall
Now a woman cried out to him saying,
“Save, my master, the king!”
And he said,
“No. Let Yahweh save you. From whence shall I save you?
From the threshing floor or from the press?”
And said to her the king,
“What to you?”
And said the woman,
“This said to me,
‘Give your son and we will eat him the day.
And my son we will eat tomorrow.’
And we boiled my son and we ate him
And I said to her on the day after
‘Give your son and we shall eat him.’
And she hid her son.”

And it was according to the hearing of the king the words of the woman
And he tore his garments -
Now he himself crossing over on the wall -
And the people say
Now look! Sackcloth on his flesh from the house!
And he said,
“Thus may ‘Elohim do to me, and thus may he add
If the head of ‘Eliysha’ son of Shafat stands on him the day.”
Now ‘Eliysha’ sitting-enthroned in his house
Now the elders sitting-enthroned with him.
And he sent a man from before his face.
Before entered the messenger to him
Now he himself said to the elders,
“See you! For he sent this son of a murdering-one to take away my head.
See! According to the entering of the messenger
Shut the door and press him with the door.
Is not the voice of the feet of his master after him?”
Still talking with them the messenger came down to him and he said,
“Look! This evil from Yahweh,
Why shall I wait-in-hope for Yahweh still?”
