A titanic wrangle has been going on over the Department of Justice’s handling of the case against Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier who committed suicide in 2019 while in jail for sex trafficking.
Trump and many in his circle promised full disclosure. What’s actually happened is a slow drip-drip of information that has stoked up outrage, not least within Trump’s MAGA base.
Nobody knows for sure what Epstein or the journalists, lawyers, politicians, scientists, entertainers he hosted were up to. We may never know.
But as Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger has pointed out (here, here, here, and here), there’s overwhelming evidence that powerful people sexually abuse children and teenage girls. In fact, it’s hardly a secret, so well-documented it is.
It’s too painful and disturbing a reality for us to contemplate. But it’s true: A significant number of the people who entertain and rule us abuse children, or cover up for those who do.
And it’s not just elites. As Julia Yost sharply observed, “lots of us do the things he did, just less opulently. . . . Without him and his pedo-elite friends, we would be left to confront the Epstein next door, or the one in the mirror.”
Whatever happened around Epstein, horrific things happen all around us every day. Even if no one killed and ate babies (as some allege), this kind of attack on children is Satanic.
What do we do? Lent provides the key: “These kinds don’t come out except by prayer and fasting,” Jesus told His disciples (Matt 17:21).
Fast and pray to drive the dragons from your own life. Fast and pray also that Jesus the Stronger Man would unleash His fiery Spirit to purge Satan and the Satanists from our land, from every land.
