Jesus was raised as he was because he died as he did and he attained glory through the loss of ... everything. To follow him therefore requires that we ourselves let go of or have taken from us ... everything. At this time of pandemic, many people are bearing or are confronted by grievous and multi-faceted loss, ranging from the immediate loss of loved ones and livelihood, through to less tangible loss such as that of  connection, planned futures or freedom.  We will explore the theological distinctions and pastoral insights we need to make gospel sense of how painful loss is at the heart of much-desired change.
