Mission & Vision

Theopolis Institute, based in Birmingham, Alabama, teaches men and women to lead cultural renewal by renewing the church. Participants in its various programs–its courses, conferences, and publications–will gain competence to read the Bible imaginatively, worship God faithfully, and engage the culture intelligently.

We Envision

a world full of churches that teach the Christian Scriptures as the Word of God in all their power and beauty; churches where the people of God sing Psalms, hymns, and songs in lively worship and eat and drink together each week around the Lord’s table; churches that live in obedience to the Lord Jesus and practice discipline together under the leadership of their pastors; churches whose members share in the mission of the Son and Spirit to bring about God’s kingdom of peace, justice, and love.

We Equip

our students for imaginative ministry and foster the development of their particular talents. We provide a context for our scholars and teachers to study the Scriptures, engage in theological research, instruct and mentor other ministers, teachers, and Christian laity, and pursue publication of their own work, all for the purposes of supporting the church’s work of teaching, worship, and cultural renewal.
